When there was a draft it was a cumpulsory army and heavily out represented by blacks. Since Vietnam it has been a voluntary obligation which is paid. There have been very few who have selflessly gone to serve thier country. The majority I know joined never expecting to fight. It was for a paid education. All the wars since WWII have been a sham and the servicemen haven't been fighting anything but the corporation's proxy wars. What is there to appreciate in the murder of all those Iraqis and Afghanis? Are they serving me or thier industrial military complex masters? They are not fighting for my freedom at this point and havent been for years. I appreciate what the men did in WWII and I applaud them. Men went to the enlistment cernters enmasse. Those men fought for my freedoms that I am sure of. Korea? Guatamala? Vietnam? Bay of Pigs? Granada? Haiti? Desert Storm? Iraq? Afghanistan? Give me a break. Those in the special forces could have handled Afghanistan in a month or less, didnt need all that "service" that Haliburton has been reaping for the last 10 years. Time has shown that the fastest way to get someone to kill someone in your country's name is for corporations to wave the flag and say your freedoms are threatened while holding their hands out for billions.

Do You Appreciate The Service Of Our Military?
by minimus inbeing raised a jehovah's witness, i did not have any appreciation for the military or for veterans.. now, when i see a military person, especially in uniform, i am grateful for their work as well as the fact that they risk their lives for us.. do you appreciate our men and women of the military?.

Jw.org on disfellowshipping
by d inhere is what the jw's say about disfellowinshipping.

Don't you guys get it? Spiritual counsel for disfellowshipped ones is "don't talk to anyone but us. Come to all the meetings and sit your ass down. Write a letter in a year or so, unless you are related to one of us and just give it about three months." Doesn't that about cover it fellow ex-elders?

Georgia mom shoots home intruder five times
by Bonnie_Clyde inhttp://www.theblaze.com/stories/my-wife-is-a-hero-georgia-mother-shoots-home-intruder-five-times-after-being-cornered/ .
i've been waiting for someone to post this story.
five bullets almost weren't enough to save herself and her two children.

Just think of how many bullets she could have put in him with an AK47! Sounds as if the 38 did the job. Its not about banning guns, its about banning overkill to the extent possible. If it stops just 1 whackjob from killing 20 children I am for it. I say to this lady, well done. I don't know how good a shot she was but it sounds as if he caught plenty of lead.

Gun Control, Alex Jones and Piers Morgan
by Amelia Ashton inpiers morgan decided to advocate gun control after sandy hook.
that caused this radio host, alex jones, who has millions of listeners to create a petition to have piers deported.
piers invited alex on his show to have a civil debate about guns.

Flip-flopping all over the place
by confusedteenager inone minute i'm believing completely in god and in jesus christ, and in the next instance i'm questioning all religious systems in general.
i think i'm just lacking faith, but then in the back of my head i'm wondering if i've just been so indoctrinated and deluded...that i can't imagine living without considering that there is a god to be worshiped, or that i need to worship god in order to be happy.
i don't know how full-blown atheists or full blown christians do it either way.

Interesting District Convention News.....
by Pyramid Scheme ini wanted to share some news from a family friend (he is my wt mole - still an elder, hates the shenanigans, but is still hanging on for all the reasons often discussed on this site) i know the various rumors have been discussed on here, and unfortunately the rumor about the conventions being eliminated weren't true!
(what a burden on the jw community - financial hardship for a good portion of them, guilting people into actually quitting their job to attend, physically exhausting for many, etc...etc......).
anyway, he told me that the district convention is being moved to 11 weekends at the jw-owned circuit assembly hall, and they are no longer planning on renting stadiums/large facilities in our area (northern ohio/southern michigan).

The same thing is said to be coming to northern California. If they are not announcing it world wide perhaps it is a dodge to keep those who still have to fork over the big money for the SOS to keep from feeling screwed?

So you're DA'd... No I'm not... Yes you are... No I'm not...
by Calebs Airplane inwtf is the wt doing to the minds of the brethren???.
this morning i went to the post office at 7:50am to pick up a package.
turns out the mail box section was open at 8am but the actual post office didn't open until 8:30am... rather than drive home and come back later i decided to get out my car and wait on a nearby park bench.

Honeybucket got it right, guilt. They/we were taught that there is more guilt associated with NOT attending the meetings than there is in pioneering while on public assistance, not paying taxes, watching porn or taking advantage of the kindness of others in the congregation. This sort of guilt cannot let go when it comes to others who flaunt the system, ie: inactive ones. They must be DA'd, disfellowhipped or apostate, how else could they be so guilt free when missing the meetings? It is a very insideous doctrine this "Do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together". Thank god we figured it out, WHAT PEACE WE HAVE! Are we not happified brothers and sisters?
